Me with my nephew Julius

I’m Dominic and I’m a cancer survivor who hates the term “cancer survivor”.  In fact, I’m only using that term here in the “About” section of this site and doubt that you’ll hear me use that term elsewhere.  I was diagnosed with Testicular cancer when I was 17 years old and a senior in high school.  Less than six months after that diagnosis I was in remission which was followed promptly by a clean bill of health.

Now its 10 years later and low and behold, I’m being diagnosed, again, with cancer.  I’m 28 years old and am now a General Manager of an independent record label and sports ticket brokership.  It is my expectation that my cancer and its treatments won’t interfere too much with my work, but we’ll see.  I intend to use this blog to document my treatment. I have some forthcoming surgeries, some biopsies, and undoubtedly some chemo (I hope no radiation).  I’m going to lose my hair and probably my patience.  But since going through this process 10 years ago, I’ve also seen a handfull of my friends go through similar treatments which will help me keep things in perspective.  Is having cancer annoying?  Yes.  Is it inconvenient?  You betcha.  But its not the end of the world – or my life.  And I am pretty darned confident that 2009 is still going to be a pretty cool year.

I intend to update this blog with regularity.  And will always leave commenting open.  Whether you know me or someone else who is going through cancer treatments, I hope that this site can help offer some perspective.  And if you are a company who wants to run some ads on this site and kick me some money for my troubles, you’re welcome to. Drop me a line!
